Jaundice Baby

Ella Reese had jaundice when she was born. It got to be pretty high in a matter of days. High enough that sitting her in sunlight was not working. We had to have home health come and bring us a Photo therapy light box that she had to be put in. It was very similar to a mini tanning bed. It was so sad to see her in there. She had to be in there day and night and could only come out to be fed and changed. Ryan and I had to take turns staying up to watch her. The jaundice finally went down away after our pediatrician put her on a strict diet of half formula and half breast milk. It was a rough 10 days or so. Everytime they had to test her jaundice, her foot had to be pricked and a small amount of blood had to be taken. She had this done 7 times in her first 10 days of life.
Poor thing...

soakin up the rays....

Oh! This post brings back many, many memories. Our boys had about 7 days of "under the lights" in the NICU
