A record of the funny things my kids say. Because they say too many funny things and I forget them if it is not written down...
April 16th 2011
I had a lemon I was tossing from cooking dinner. My curious kiddies wanted to taste it. They must have forgotten that they have had lemons before because they were acting like they have never seen a lemon in their life.
Ella's reaction: "Mom, that tickles my tongue!"
Dean's reaction: "Uhhhmmmmm! Das Gooouuud!"
Then I turn around and keep cooking, then see from the corner of my eye that Dean has his head IN the trash licking the lemon peels.
Yesterday Dean climbed into bed with us at 6:30am. I was too tired to go downstairs to put him in his bed. After 10 mminutes of silence he says, "HEY you GUYS!!!". ( It is from a PBS show called Electric Company.)
I was telling Ryan last night and we died laughing. But at 6:40 am I WAS NOT laughing.
Ryan also told me he did not wake up to that but did remember waking up to Dean touching and carressing his face, then fell back asleep. What a sweet funny boy we have!
Yesterday we were all driving in the evening and I was pointing Ella's attention to the beautiful evening sky. I told her it was like a huge watercolor painting of a rainbow with all the colors.
"Oh !' she replies. Then she goes on talk about painting the sky and that she will need a "big fat piece of paper".
Too cute.
April 6th
One day I said in response to something Ryan told me, "NO WAY!".
I can't remember to what I was responding about.
Ella Reese immediately tells me, "Mommy, don't say that . That is not kind.".
I laugh. And tell her that NO WAY is something someone may say in response to something exciting. She says, "oh...".
Then she asks me to ask her something.
"Ask me something mom!". I don't get it at first then I realize...as she continues to plead with me...that she wants me ask her something or tell her something so she can say NO WAY!
So I say, " The sky is blue!".
"NO WAY!" Ella exclaims then she starts to grin. She loves to say it now. So much so that she says it whenever...
Like if I come to the kids and say, "Guess what guys?!".
"NO WAY!" Ella responds.
WELL....DEAN interprets it totally different.
While Ella Reese is exclaiming "NO WAY!", Dean is shouting from the top of his lungs, "GO AWAY!".
It is quite hilarious.
Just this last week I invited Ryan's parents last minute over for dinner with us.
I gather the kids and ask them....
"Guess what guys!?". There eyes get big and Dean already has his mouth open like a fish gasping air in...awaiting something wonderful.
"Nana and Papa are coming over for dinner!". Both the kids are yelling so loud I have to plug my ears.
"NO WAY!!!!", they both are saying in unison....slow and drawn out...and very loud.
Well Ella Reese ceases her exclamation but Dean is chanting his. But he is saying "GO AWAY!" at the top of his lungs over and over.
We keep trying to tell him...but of course he won't listen.
March 23rd
I have been sporadically putting Dean on the potty.
Yesterday he did #2 two times in the potty and went pee 3 times.
In fact his first anything in his potty was a #2. Yesterday I plopped him on the potty and told him, " Mommy has to run to the other bathroom to get more toilet paper, okay?".
"Kay!" he responds. I dash across the house, make it back in a minute and he had done #1 and #2! We were all so excited. Then while it was all flushing down the toilet, Dean blows it a kiss and waves goodbye ( with his head almost IN the toilet bowl. In attempts to give it a proper farewell I suppose! ) saying enthusiastically, "Byiiee!".

Even tells his poo goodbye with joy!
March 19th
Ella Reese likes to "read" to Dean. She will look at a baby picture book with simple words next to pictures and I will hear her..." Buh. Buh. Buh-ooo. Buh-ooo-Kuh. Buh-oo-kuh. Buhookuh. Book. Book!". And then she will go to another word. Wel,l Dean came to me after his nap. I was in my bed resting. I handed him a little book to play with. He sat with "daddy's" pillows propped behind him like I had mine. Knees bent with book resting on his legs and head hanging over his book. He looked quite studious. He opens a page and starts to slowly drag his little finger across the page.
"T... T....T....", he says. Then faster..."T.T. T.". Finally he exclaims "T!!". As if he sounded out a word and is now reading it. I just started laughing....to cute!
march 18th.
I was in the middle of cooking dinner and I went to change Dean's diaper. He tells me he wants to go pee pee in the potty. So I take him. Usually he will not go the first time we it him on there. Once I take him off, he always tells me, " won morh tihm", while holding up his index finger. "One more time", he is telling me as we head back to the bathroom. I could hear my onions and peppers sizzling on in the pan...dancing really. So I panic b/c I do not want to burn dinner. I look at my 3 year old...uh hmmm....3 and a half year old and she looks totally competant to help me. I instruct her to stand in front of Dean, to encourage him to go pee pee. I then hand her a piece of toilet paper and tell her to watch for his pee pee and if he goes to give him the toilet paper. She happily agrees.
I run to the stove, stir around my veggies, turn the heat down and run/slide in my socks through the kitchen back to them....
To hear,." You did it! Mom! Dean went pee pee!".
I look at her amazed, then suspicious. " He did?".
"Yes!". She assures me.
" I saw it come a lot, ..then a little. Then I heard it in the potty then I saw it!".
My heart melted.
What a big girl and boy I have!
