Ryan's home!

Ryan went out of town to Chattanooga for the past few days. He got back home tonight and we were all so happy to have him back. I ran an errand today and when I got home I heard Ella Reese's running to the door saying "Daddy back?! Daddy back?!".

We sent these pictures of Ella Reese to Ryan the other day.

Babies and Jozzy

My good friend Joz moved two weeks ago and the week before some girls got together to laugh over old pictures and stories from our roommate days. I love these girls and we had such a blast living together in our single days. I am so thankful for them and here we are now..blessed with husbands and babies!

Ella Reese never ceases to amaze me at her silly antics.
She is in Dean's crib. And I did not put her in there. I heard her one day whining and sort of crying. I searched every room in the house and could not find her. Anxiety builds..and I looked in her room one more time to hear the whining coming from Dean's crib. I found her like this...pretending to be a baby.

She likes to mimic Dean when he loses his pacey and mouths around for it. She would put it in her mouth, spit it out then whine for it.

I got her these alphabet magnets and this is what she likes to do with them. She knows a lot of the letters, but can not quite match them up to the right one.

Summer Reading

I say "summer reading" because it will probably take me the rest of this summer and then maybe the rest of 2008 to finish the books I am reading right now. I have always been a compulsive snacker when it comes to reading. I see a book that I am enticed to buy and read. Then I imagine all the cozy evenings snuggled up with my book or mornings reading in the brisk fresh air pouring over every page. Then my reading habits turn into snacking..a bite here and there but no real nourishment. And do you know how my ambitious desire to read ends up? With a library of books collecting dust. After a week of trying to insert reading times in my day, other things ( kids, house, hubby) seem to push out my desire to read God's Word and other spiritual nourishing books. I have piles of books that are half read and never finished.

So if you are in the same season as me, busy with little ones at home, you can probably relate.

But for the rest of this summer, all by God's grace, I am aiming to be disciplined in my reading. My soul desperately needs it!!!

Maybe everyone in the blogging world can help keep me accountable. My aim is to water my soul with the refreshing truths of the Gospel, becoming more aware of the idols my heart so easily leans toward, grow in Faith and faith in prayer, become more in awe of God's majesty and power and finally to cultivate more of a love for my home and serving my family. I know, ...it's a large load but I am trusting in God to do all of these things~

"Transforming Grace" by Jerry Bridges

"Gospel Primer" by Milton Vincent

Along with this I am listening to the messages of our past women's retreat and any messages by Piper on the majesty of God.

Truck Pics

Ryan and I love this pick up. But sadly we are trying to sell it. We have it listed on craigs list and have had some interested people come by. Ryan recently bought a 2003 Dodge pickup that is better suited for his new business. I know deep down he wants to keep it, but we just can't right now. It is really a cool old truck.
Since we have had it I've wanted to get some pics of ER on it or in it...but it is not very attractive just sitting in our drive way. The other day we were outside so I plopped her on the hood and snapped some. She was pretty terrified at first to be on the hood, but then loosened up to her normal silly self. If I can get this truck to grassy location, I'd still like to get a picture or two of the full body...I guess for memory sake.

She is making this face that only Ryan and I know what she is doing. When she gibber gabbers she sometimes talks in this assertive loud tone that produces this expression. It is so funny to me and this picture totally captures it. She is such a treasure to my heart....

Summer fun days

We've had some fun summer days...playing outside and enjoying the babies.

ER still likes wearing her swim diapers on her head. Last summer she use to bring them to me and want me to put them on her head...

Mom and Dad had given ER this bear lotion pump as a gift for her first birthday. Well, I never let her play with because I didn't want her to figure out the pump part. I found it the other day and gave the bear part to her and she loves it. For a week she wanted to sleep with it, bathe with it and eat with it. Here she is at bedtime with her three fav night time animals. A squirrel, reindeer and her bear. She likes the squirrel and reindeer on each side of her head. She calls the bear "bee-ar". It sounds kind of like she is asking for beer.
Dean was napping over at my parent in laws and his crack was showing. I had to get a pic...too cute!

Mom let us go on a date one night and we came home to her trying to feed Dean. It is hard when he likes so much to hand his head like this... Imagine the time I have when I feed him!

This is Ella Reese at about 5 months...below is Dean. I can't believe that she will be 2 in a few weeks!
She LOVES to wear my mom's shoes around the house. She'll want to hold your hand and walk around. Suprisingly, she does it very well....

For the 4th of July we went to our neighbors to swim and grill out. ER's inherited big feet...

Five months

I can hardly believe that Dean is 5 months old! Wow time flies! He is such a joy!
He is so quiet that sometimes I forget that I have another child. Some fun five month milestones:

-He is starting to roll from back to belly and vice versa. He just started spinning around on his belly. Since he is more mobile, Ella Reese has taken more of a fondness to him. I will sometimes catch her on her belly next to him on his belly giving him toys and patting him on the head. So sweet! And she likes to get on the floor with him and roll around with him. One time I was tickling them both on their bellies and they were both giggling ...it was so incredibly cute that I wished I had a third hand to take a picture.
-I started giving him rice cereal and since then, ER will try to feed him her snacks too.
-He is getting harder to nurse long enough to get a full feeding. He likes to crank his head back upside down to see any noise or distraction. And he likes to hang his head upside down period. It cracks Ryan up. He looks like a baby chimp with his head back...
-He makes a baby tiger growling noise when I hold him right before I put him down. He looks at me and coos and growls. He does this also after a full meal and is playing on the floor.
-Just yesterday he started making this high pitched screaming noise. At first I thought it was ER- cause she regularly makes this noise- but it was Dean...just entertaining himself. Ryan doesn't like it cause it is not manly.....But he is still oh so cute!

What a sport. He did not cry or fuss at all. He looks like he kind of belongs in the basket. Later I find out that he was actually sitting in poop while I shot these. What a good little model!

The past month the Lord has blessed me with many photo jobs. Of course any free time goes to editing the pictures in Photoshop. My now almost 2 year old( in about a month!) and 5 month old are both growing and changing at a rapid pace. Well, Dean is growing at a rapid pace, Ella Reese is still a light weight.
Still the kids are changing so quickly I can bearly grasp it and need to document their unique stages with my camera. So I am committing this week to get some good pictures. I have a nice little break until August, so I will have some time to take pictures of my children.
